Floor 1: From Surrealism to Living Matter
On the 1st floor, the artistic journey invites you to discover universes where dreams and matter intersect. Explore the work of António Dacosta, one of the most influential names in 20th-century Portuguese art, and let yourself be enveloped by the telluric energy of José Nuno da Câmara Pereira. Next to the elevators, the Azorean landscape is reinvented through the delicacy and detail of contemporary ceramics.

Elevator Hall: Nature in Porcelain
The delicate details and the reinterpretation of regional craftsmanship.
In this space, ceramics transform iconic elements of the Azorean landscape into pieces of rare beauty and texture.
Karolinne Alves
With her own studio since 2016 (Karolinne Ceramics), the artist makes her space a place of constant experimentation, where porcelain and stoneware are the raw materials of choice. Her work reflects an enthusiasm for the surrounding beauty, replicating elements of Azorean nature in ceramics – such as hydrangeas – or incorporating textures inspired by regional crafts, such as the traditional lace of Pico.
