Often described as the "painter of the origin of matter," his work explores the instability and constant transformation of the elements, where fire, water, and earth take center stage. With a career marked by technical experimentation and aesthetic rigor, his work seeks balance in "sensitive chaos," creating compositions that evoke the geological force and the ever-changing nature of the archipelago. Based in Paris from 1947 onwards, his work always maintained an emotional and nostalgic connection to the Azores, revealing a "poetry of the everyday" where dream and reality coexist.
